Why Get a Store?
Nearly everyone has council mandated wheelie bins and recycling boxes these days, and they’re pretty convenient, though not without their problems. Just where are you supposed to put those recycling boxes? In your home or exposed to the weather outside? As for wheelie bins, they’re hardly attractive, they also smell bad, and can easily be tipped over by wind, animals or even people. A store will help protect your bins and boxes, and keep them hidden out of sight so you don’t have to see them.
Here you’re getting a box that has four compartments. Three of these are designed to hold standard sized wheelie bins, and one is split with a horizontal shelf so that you can store two standard recycling boxes. You’re going to need to makes sure your bins and boxes fit inside, and that you have enough space on your property to fit the store (and to open the doors and lids!). The actual measurements are:
- External Dimensions: 1200 x 2740 x 804mm (H/W/D)
- Internal Dimensions: 1090 x 650-650-650-540 (Each Compartment) x 750mm (H/W/D)
The unit fits a 240 litre wheelie bin so will also accommodate bins in 180 and 140 litre size.
Quality and Materials
You’re looking at top quality materials here, so there’s no danger of your store falling apart any time soon! The wood is redwood and is pressure treated, so it’s naturally strong and sturdy, and can be left out in all weathers. All you’ll need to do is stain the wood once a year or so to keep things looking good. Handles and hinges are metal, so you don’t need to worry about breakages. And if you’re green, then know that the wood is FCE certified and comes from renewable resources. Last, but not least, this UK product is made in the Ribble Valley, Lancashire, so you’re supporting the domestic economy too!
What Else Do You Need to Know?
We’re not quite done yet! Take a look at those lids and you’ll see they’re sloped, so ice, snow and rain can’t collect on them. Even better, included chains mean you can connect bin lids and store lids so you can open both at the same time, very convenient! The outward opening front doors let you easily remove bins and boxes and put them away again. And if you worry about security then there’s the option of adding hasps that can be locked to keep everything safe and sound.
Some people prefer to anchor the store to the ground or a base plate, but it is self standing so essentially you can put it anywhere you like. Construction from the flat pack is easy, you’ll get full instructions, and you’ll need simple tools and a little time, no experience necessary!
Bottom Line Time
If you’re sick of the sight of bins and boxes then a bin store is going to be the way to go. You’ll get an attractive addition to your garden, and those boxes and bins will be out of sight for good. So what are you waiting for?!
